Marty Stewart Artist

Beauty in nature is my inspiration in creating my pastel paintings. I find it in abundance in the Central Oregon landscape and in my travels throughout the West. I love searching out new vistas of mountains, rivers, deserts and forests for inspiration and ideas.

Color, texture, and drama are the elements of art that excite me the most. I like to experiment with all three in my studio, using field studies and references as a jumping off point to allow my imagination to go on and beyond the literal. Many of my larger paintings are composites of places I’ve seen, and also dreamed of.
